    3:50 The retarded transition from the chorus into the last verse with Mike‘s key octave and Phil‘s dry single beat is so pleasing…

    I really love Level 42 sunce 1986, but I've find out that this song (one of my L42 favorites) is very similar in its first phrase to the first phrase of 1981 The Tubes' "Don't want to wait anymore"..

    They were always 'reknown' for the bass in their music (Rightly so) but the 'Tinkling of the Ivories' at the start is a thing beauty!

    What is a Kansas City milkman?

    • @MusicLoot
      @MusicLoot Год назад

      The Kansas City milkman is a metaphor for The simple Man who doesn't know, or doesn't care to know about what's really going on behind the scenes in today's corrupt political power structure. do you really want to know how deep the corruption goes??? Maybe the truth would irreparably make you lose faith in the human race. The Kansas City milkman doesn't know the truth, and maybe that's a good thing for his sanity.

      I had to Dig for this .. This mid-century novel by Reynolds Packard chronicles the world of an international news agency set in Paris, France. Why then the title? As the seasoned vet coaches the young and hungry cub reporter, "And remember, you are writing so it can be understood by the Kansas City Milkman. If the Kansas City Milkman can't understand it, the dispatch is badly written."

    I think this was one of their best albums. The period before turning more commercial. At this point I think they encountered a fork in the road. Phil Gould is a nice chap, actually responds to messages on twitter. He said people don't realise how hard they worked. Enough said.!

    'Lasso The Moon' by keyboard player Mike Lindup is one of the real highlights of Level 42's underrated 1991 album 'Guaranteed'. Bizarrely, it wasn't even put on the original LP version, it was only included on the CD and Cassette editions as a bonus track at the time. Crazy!
